Nutrition Education Training for Child Care Providers

 

This 4-hour class covers:

-the impacts of nutrition on children's health and development

- legal guidelines for CACFP child care menus

- portion sizes for meals and snacks for children of different ages

- managing food allergies in cycle menus

- recipe modifications for lower fat or salt

- how to use menus to design nutrition education classes for children

Participants will develop a menu, then evaluate it for nutritional adequacy and child acceptability. 

You will practice a child's cup cooking activity by making a muffin.

This class meets the requirements of Hillsborough County Child Care Licensing.  Call the instructor if you are interested in the certificate for 0.4 CEU hours.

Registration fee covers cost of class materials and record keeping for the certificate. Fees are not refundable, but will be honored for the next 2 classes if you must miss the one you registered for.

Materials can be available in Spanish with advance notice.  Contact the instructor if you would like to schedule a class in Spanish (minimum 10 people).
